The right way to use the Royal Kalahari Face Serum and Detox Gel Bundle is gel first, serum second. After cleansing, smooth a thin layer of Detox Gel over your face and neck, and while it is still fresh, press in three or four drops of The Royal Kalahari Face Serum. Use the pair morning and night, and finish with sunscreen in the daytime. The whole thing takes about two minutes.
Why these two belong together
The pair works because the two products do opposite, complementary jobs.
Detox Gel is a light, clear aloe gel. It melts into skin in seconds and leaves it feeling fresh, soft and lightly hydrated, never tacky or heavy. Aloe provides weightless, water-binding hydration, shea adds a touch of cushion so skin does not feel stripped, and tea tree oil gives the jar a crisp, herbal, clean scent. Its particular job is to sit between toning and moisturizing, so that what comes next glides on more easily.
The Royal Kalahari Face Serum is what comes next. It is a light blend of plant oils led by Kalahari melon seed oil, which helps skin hold moisture, with baobab, camellia, passion fruit seed, tamanu and mongongo oils and vitamins C and E. On its own it gives lasting hydration without a greasy feel. Over the gel, it glides on more easily, and the two together leave skin both fresh and comfortable.
Step by step
1. Cleanse and pat dry
Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat it dry. Slightly damp is fine.
2. Smooth on a thin layer of Detox Gel
Take a small amount, about the size of a fingertip, and smooth it over your face and neck. The first touch is cool. A thin layer is all you need; the gel should melt in within seconds, not sit on the surface. The 4 oz jar is generous, so there is no need to ration it, but more gel does not make the next step work better.
3. Press in the serum while the gel is still fresh
This is the part people most often get wrong. Do not wait for the gel to dry completely. While your skin still feels fresh and dewy from it, warm three or four drops of serum between your fingertips and press them into your face and neck. The gel's light layer of moisture helps the oils spread evenly.
4. Finish with sunscreen in the morning
In the daytime, let the serum settle for a minute, then apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen. At night, you can stop at the serum or add a night cream as the last step.
Morning and night, every day
The pair is made for both ends of the day. In the morning, the gel leaves skin fresh and the serum gives it a soft, comfortable base for sunscreen and makeup. At night, the same two steps leave skin calm and moisturized before bed. There is no need to build up slowly or skip days; both are made for twice-daily use.
Used daily, the serum leaves skin looking smoother, brighter and more even over time. The gel's part is more immediate: skin feels clean, soft and refreshed, and looks calm and comfortable.
Common mistakes with the pair
- Waiting too long between steps. Apply the serum while the gel is still fresh, not minutes later.
- Using too much gel. A thin layer melts in; a thick one takes longer and can leave the serum sliding around.
- Reversing the order. The gel is made to go on before serums and oils, not over them. Water-light products go first, oils after.
- Skipping the neck. Both products are meant for the face and neck. Carry what is left on your fingertips downward.

Do I need to wait for the gel to dry before the serum?
No. Press the serum in while the gel is still fresh on your skin. That is when the oils spread most easily.

How many drops of serum go over the gel?
