Start with clean, slightly damp skin
Wash your face and pat it dry, leaving it just barely damp rather than dripping or bone dry. A little water on the skin helps the oils spread evenly, and the serum's Kalahari melon seed oil, which helps skin hold moisture, has some moisture to hold. If your face has already dried by the time you reach for the bottle, a spritz of a face mist brings it back.
How many drops to use
Four to six drops covers the face and neck. Start with four if your skin is on the oily side or the weather is humid, and use six if your skin feels dry or tight, or in winter. More is not better here: the serum is made almost entirely of plant oils, so a few drops spread further than you expect.
Warm, then press
- Put the drops on your fingertips or in one palm.
- Rub your fingertips or palms together for a few seconds to warm the oil.
- Press your hands flat onto your cheeks, then your forehead, then your chin and jaw.
- Draw what is left down onto your neck.
Pressing, rather than rubbing, spreads the oil evenly without tugging at the skin. If you like, finish with a few seconds of gentle upward strokes along the jaw and cheekbones. The serum sinks in without a greasy feel, so after a minute your skin should feel soft rather than slick.
Morning and night
The serum is made to be used twice a day. In the morning, it leaves skin soft and comfortable under sunscreen and makeup. At night, it goes on after cleansing and before any richer cream.
