The creation
A velvety African kernel oil that sinks in silky.
Marula oil is pressed from the kernel inside the stone of a southern African fruit, and it feels the way it sounds: velvety, cushiony and unhurried. It is rich in oleic acid, with a little linoleic acid and natural vitamin E, and for an oleic oil it is surprisingly light. It sinks in within moments and leaves no film.
Warm a few drops between your fingers and they turn glossy and soft. Press them into clean skin and the oil helps it hold moisture, leaving a plush, quietly luminous finish that suits dry, dehydrated and mature skin especially well.
Our Marula Face Oil is 100% pure marula seed oil, with no added fragrance and nothing else in the bottle. Use it alone as your last step, or press it over a serum to help keep the evening's moisture in.
- Cushiony moisture that helps skin hold hydration
- Skin feels soft, plush and silky
- A quietly luminous, supple-looking finish

The story behind
Made by hand, in small batches, by a mother and son in Brooklyn
Marianella spent her childhood in her grandmother's kitchen in Venezuela, making soap and beauty products by hand, where the simplest remedies were often a single oil. Marula is one of those: across the savannas of southern Africa, people have cracked the stones by hand for generations to press the kernels into a pale oil.
We bottle that one oil by hand in our Williamsburg workshop, in batches of 50 to 100, with nothing else added, in a bottle designed by Marianella's son David. No harsh chemicals, no animal testing, and as little waste as we can manage. This is the simplest thing we make.

The perfect partner

Vitamin C serum is water-based, so it goes on first; Marula follows to hold moisture in.
Mist after cleansing, then press 4–6 drops of Marula over it as your final step.
Apply the lighter Kalahari serum first, then 4–6 drops of Marula over it.
At night, the rich night cream goes on first and Marula last, to hold it in.
Questions
Can I use it with the Royal Kalahari Face Serum?
Can I use it while pregnant or breastfeeding?
I have a tree-nut allergy. Should I be careful?
