In a full routine, Rose Petal Mist Face Toner is always step two: after cleansing and before everything else. In the morning that means wash, mist, gel, serum and sunscreen; at midday, a few spritzes over bare skin or makeup; at night, wash, mist, serum and oil. Below is each routine in order, with what to use at each step and how long it takes.
Morning: wash, mist, gel, serum, sunscreen
This is the order in our Facial Must Have Bundle, and it takes a few minutes.
- Wash. Press a dime-size amount of Rose Face Wash Cream into a face wetted with warm water, massage in slow circles, rinse and pat dry. Leave the skin faintly damp.
- Mist. Close your eyes, hold Rose Petal Mist Face Toner at arm's length and give your face a few spritzes, moving across the forehead, cheeks, chin and jaw. Press it in with flat palms.
- Gel. Smooth a thin layer of Detox Gel over face and neck. It is a light, cool aloe gel that sinks in within seconds and helps the serum after it glide on.
- Serum. Warm four to six drops of The Royal Kalahari Face Serum between your fingertips and press them into face and neck.
- Sunscreen. Last, once the serum has settled.
Short on time? Wash, mist, serum, sunscreen is still a full morning.
Midday: one pass, no sink needed
By the afternoon, heated or air-conditioned rooms have usually left skin feeling tight. You do not need to start over.
- Close your eyes and hold the bottle at arm's length, a little farther if you are wearing makeup.
- Give it one or two presses over the whole face.
- Over bare skin, press it in with your palms. Over makeup, leave it alone and let it dry on its own.
That is the whole step. It takes seconds, and skin looks and feels lightly hydrated again. It is also a good reason to keep a second bottle in your bag.
Evening: wash, mist, serum, oil
At night, skin has time to take in something richer, so the routine ends with a face oil instead of sunscreen.
- Wash off sunscreen and the day with Rose Face Wash Cream. If you wear heavy makeup, take most of it off first with a face oil.
- Mist with Rose Petal Mist and press it in.
- Serum. The Royal Kalahari Face Serum, four to six drops, pressed into face and neck.
-
Oil. Choose one to suit your skin and press a few drops in as the last step:
- Marula Face Oil for dry, dehydrated or mature skin that feels tight. Rich, softening and quick to sink in.
- Squalane Face Oil for dehydrated, sensitive or combination skin. Clear and almost weightless.
- Rosehip Face Oil for skin that looks dull or uneven. Light and dry to the touch.
Oil spreads further over skin that has just been misted, so two to four drops are usually enough.
The two-step version
Some days, the routine is just the two rose products: Rose Face Wash Cream and Rose Petal Mist, then sunscreen in the morning or a face oil at night. It is quick, it is gentle on normal, dry and sensitive skin, and it is a good way to start if you are new to a routine.
A peptide evening
On evenings when you want more, swap the Royal Kalahari serum for Wrinkle Reducing Ultra Peptide Intensive Face Serum after the mist, two to four drops, then finish with Wrinkle Reducing Ultra Peptide Intensive Night Cream over face, neck and décolletage. Skip the peptide serum on nights you use retinol.
Questions about the mist in a routine
Does the mist go before or after Detox Gel?
Before. The order is wash, mist, gel, serum.
Which face oil should I use after the mist at night?
Marula for dry or mature skin, Squalane for sensitive or combination skin, Rosehip for skin that looks dull or uneven. Press two to four drops in as the last step.
Can I use the mist with the peptide serum?
Yes. Mist after washing, let it settle for a moment, then apply the peptide serum to clean skin and the night cream over it.
Do I have to use every step?
No. Wash, mist and one serum or oil is a complete routine. The gel and the midday mist are there for skin that wants more hydration.
