Morning and Evening Routines with the Royal Kalahari Face Serum

Morning and Evening Routines with the Royal Kalahari Face Serum

A routine built around The Royal Kalahari Face Serum can be as short as two steps, cleanse and serum, or as full as six. In the morning it ends with sunscreen; at night it can be followed by a peptide serum or a rich night cream. Below are the short daily version and full morning and evening routines using our own products, with the order for each step, so you can build the one that fits your skin and your time.

The two-minute version

If you only do two things, do these, morning and night:

  1. Cleanse. Wash with a gentle face cleanser and pat dry, leaving skin slightly damp.
  2. Serum. Warm four to six drops of Royal Kalahari between your fingertips and press them into your face and neck.

In the morning, add sunscreen as a third step. That is a complete routine. Kalahari melon seed oil helps skin hold moisture, baobab and camellia seed oils soften dry skin, and passion fruit seed oil helps skin look brighter and more even, so the serum covers a lot of ground on its own.

A full morning routine

  1. Cleanse with Rose Face Wash Cream. Massage it into damp skin and rinse. It cleanses without leaving skin tight.
  2. Mist with Rose Petal Mist Face Toner, a fine spray of rose flower water that leaves skin fresh and lightly hydrated.
  3. Vitamin C, if you want extra help with dullness. Press three or four drops of our Vitamin C Collagen Boosting Face Serum with Niacinamide into skin and wait a moment. It is water-light and is made to be followed by a face oil.
  4. Royal Kalahari. Four to six drops, pressed in.
  5. Under the eyes and over the lips, a light pass of the Royal Kalahari Under Eye and Lip Serum Roller Oil.
  6. Sunscreen, always last.

If you do not use vitamin C, a thin layer of Detox Gel after the mist is the other good choice for step three; it helps the serum glide on.

A full evening routine

At night, Royal Kalahari can be your last step, or it can sit under something richer.

  1. Cleanse with Rose Face Wash Cream, taking an extra moment to lift away sunscreen and makeup.
  2. Mist or gel, if you use one.
  3. Royal Kalahari. Four to six drops, pressed into face and neck.
  4. Under-eye roller, a light pass under each eye and over the lips.
  5. Night cream, if you want one, as the very last step. Our Wrinkle Reducing Ultra Peptide Intensive Night Cream is a rich, velvety cream that goes over face, neck and décolletage.

This is the order our Youth Authority Face Set is designed around: serum first, then the roller, and at night the cream goes on last.

Pairing it with peptides

If fine lines are a concern, you can split your routine by time of day. Use Royal Kalahari in the morning, with sunscreen, and the Wrinkle Reducing Ultra Peptide Intensive Face Serum in the evening, given a minute to absorb. That is how The Power Couple is meant to be used. For a fuller evening, follow the peptide serum with the Ultra Peptide Night Cream, as in The Youth Trifecta.

Both Ultra Peptide formulas are made for us by a specialist cosmetic lab; everything else in these routines is made by hand in our Williamsburg workshop. On nights when you use retinol, skip the peptide serum and return to it the next evening.

A few rules that hold for every version

  • Thinnest to richest. Mists, gels and water-based serums go on before Royal Kalahari; creams and sunscreen go after.
  • Press, do not rub. Warm the drops and press them in with flat hands.
  • Do not stop at the jaw. Carry the serum down onto the neck.
  • Keep vitamin C apart from retinol and benzoyl peroxide. If you use those, keep them out of the same routine as the Vitamin C serum.

Questions about building a routine

Does the Vitamin C serum go before or after Royal Kalahari?

Before. The Vitamin C serum is water-light and made to be followed by a face oil, so Royal Kalahari goes over it.

Do I still need sunscreen in the morning?

Yes. The serum is not a sunscreen, so finish your morning routine with a broad-spectrum sunscreen.

What should I use around my eyes?

The Royal Kalahari Under Eye and Lip Serum Roller Oil, built from the same family of oils, is made for the thin skin under the eyes and for the lips.

Can I use Royal Kalahari and the peptide serum on the same day?

Yes. Use Royal Kalahari in the morning and the peptide serum at night, as in The Power Couple.
