The serum: where the set starts

The Royal Kalahari Face Serum is the piece you will use most, twice a day. It is a cold-pressed blend of botanical oils led by Kalahari melon seed oil, our hero ingredient: a light oil from the seeds of a wild melon that grows in the Kalahari, rich in linoleic acid and quick to absorb. Baobab and camellia seed oils cushion and soften dry skin, passion fruit seed oil helps skin look brighter and more even, and tamanu comforts skin that looks dry or stressed. Mongongo, monoi de Tahiti and vitamins C and E complete it. There is no added fragrance.

It won People's Star Beauty Award for Best Facial Care Product, and it is still made by hand in our Williamsburg workshop in batches of 50 to 100. Warm four to six drops between your fingertips and press them into face and neck.

The roller: the same oils, made for thinner skin

The Royal Kalahari Under Eye and Lip Serum Roller Oil comes from the same family of oils as the serum: Kalahari melon, baobab, mongongo, passion fruit, camellia, grapeseed and tamanu. Castor oil is added for a soft, glossy cushion, with monoi de Tahiti for a faint floral warmth, vitamin E to keep the oils fresh and a vitamin C complex for brightness.

It is in the set because the skin under the eyes and on the lips is thin and dries first, and a roller puts the right small amount exactly there. Under the eyes, skin looks brighter, smoother and softly hydrated, with fine lines that look less pronounced. On the lips it leaves a soft gloss. It suits normal, dry, mature and sensitive skin.

The night cream: the richest step

The Wrinkle Reducing Ultra Peptide Intensive Night Cream is the only piece in the set that is for one time of day. It carries three peptides, Argireline, Matrixyl 3000 and Snap-8, chosen to help the look of fine lines and expression lines soften, in a rich base of rosehip seed oil, sorbitol and sodium hyaluronate. It goes on last at night, over face, neck and décolletage, and stays until morning.

The masks: for mornings that ask for them

The gold under eye masks are the extra. They are not a daily step. They are a cool, refreshing pause for eyes that look tired, and they work best kept for the mornings when that is exactly what you need: after a late night, before a flight or an early start.

• Wearing the night cream in the morning. It is an evening cream. Mornings are serum, roller and sunscreen.
• Skipping the lips. The roller is made for both. Lips dry out as fast as the under-eye area, and one pass covers them.
• Using the serum once a day. The Royal Kalahari Face Serum is made for morning and night. Using it at both ends of the day is how skin comes to look smoother and more even.
• Making the masks a nightly step. They are a morning extra. Used every day, they run out before the mornings you most want them.
• Putting the cream on before the serum. The oils go on first and the cream seals them in, never the other way around.

Carrying the routine below the neck

The set looks after the face. Two of our body products give the rest of you the same evening.

Hawaiian Black Lava Body Caviar is a scrub for the shower, used before the face routine. Sea salt and organic sugar buff away dull surface skin, and its oils, among them Kalahari melon seed and passion fruit, leave skin feeling soft. Stir the jar first, massage it over wet skin from the neck down and rinse. It is for the body only, never the face.

Rosewood and Litsea Cubeba Imperial Jade Body Oil goes on straight after the shower, while skin is still damp. Grape seed and apricot kernel oils spread lightly, and marula, argan and mongongo add suppleness. It sinks in without a tacky film, so you can dress and still have the face routine to come.
