A Morning and Evening Routine Built Around Marula Face Oil

A Morning and Evening Routine Built Around Marula Face Oil

A routine built around Marula Face Oil has the oil as its last step, after cleansing, a mist and a serum. In the evening that is cleanser, toner, serum, then three or four drops of marula pressed in to keep the moisture in overnight. In the morning it is the same order with a lighter two drops and sunscreen on top. Below are both routines, step by step, with the products we use for each step and why they go in that order.

The order follows one rule: water before oil, thinnest before thickest. Everything watery goes on first so the oil can seal it in.

The evening routine, step by step

Step 1: Cleanse with a cream wash

Run a little warm water over your face and press Rose Face Wash Cream into damp skin. It melts, spreads like a lotion and rinses clean without the tight feel of an ordinary face soap. Starting with skin that feels comfortable, not stripped, means the oil at the end has less to make up for. Rinse, and pat your face only lightly with the towel.

Step 2: Mist

Hold Rose Petal Mist Face Toner at arm's length and give your face a few spritzes of rose flower water. Do not wait for it to dry. This is the water the oil will hold in.

Step 3: Serum

Press in your serum while the mist is still on your skin. Two that work well at night:

Step 4: Marula Face Oil

Warm three or four drops of Marula Face Oil between your palms and press them over the serum, cheeks first, then forehead, chin and jaw, then the sides of the neck. Nothing needs to go on top. If you finish with a rich night cream, it goes on after the oil as the very last step.

The morning routine, step by step

Step 1: Cleanse

The same cream wash, or simply a rinse with warm water if your skin is dry and you washed it the night before.

Step 2: Mist again

A few spritzes of Rose Petal Mist, left damp on the skin.

Step 3: Vitamin C serum

Press three or four drops of Vitamin C Collagen Boosting Face Serum with Niacinamide into clean skin and wait a moment. It is light and watery, and it helps dull, uneven-looking skin look brighter. Its own directions say to follow it with moisturizer or a face oil, which is where marula comes in.

Step 4: Two drops of marula

Use a lighter hand in the morning: two drops, warmed and pressed in. Give it a minute to settle.

Step 5: Sunscreen

Sunscreen is always the last morning step. With the oil settled underneath, it goes on smoothly, and makeup can follow.

A shorter routine for busy days

Some nights there is no time for four steps. The shortest routine that still works is two: wash with Rose Face Wash Cream, then press three drops of marula into your face while it is still damp from rinsing. The water on your skin stands in for the mist, and the oil holds it there.

On mornings when you are running late, mix a drop of marula into your moisturizer in your palm and apply them together, then sunscreen.

How to tell the routine is right for you

Skin should feel soft and comfortable a minute after the oil, not slick. If it looks shiny, take one drop less. If it feels tight by the middle of the day, add a drop in the morning or use the oil morning and night instead of once. Marula suits dry, dehydrated and mature skin especially well. If yours is combination, use the evening routine first and add the morning once you know how your skin responds.

Questions about building a marula routine

Can I use Marula Face Oil with the Vitamin C serum?

Yes. Press in the Vitamin C serum first and wait a moment, then two drops of marula, then sunscreen. The serum is watery and the oil is not, so that order works.

Do I still need a moisturizer?

Not necessarily. For many people with dry skin, marula over a serum is enough. If you like a moisturizer, press the oil over it or mix a drop or two in.

Can I use it with the Ultra Peptide Face Serum?

Yes. Press in two to four drops of the peptide serum in the evening, let it absorb, then press marula over it.
