The Indulgent Body Box is used in one order: scrub, oil, cream. Massage the Hawaiian Black Lava Body Caviar over wet skin in the shower and rinse. Smooth the Rosewood and Litsea Cubeba Imperial Jade Body Oil over skin while it is still damp. Finish with the Rejuvenating Body Cream in Rosewood and Litsea Cubeba on the places that dry out first. The Gold Under Eye Masks are a separate step for the face, whenever your eyes look tired. The whole routine takes about twenty minutes, and the rest of this guide goes through each step.
What is in the box
- Hawaiian Black Lava Body Caviar Body Scrub with Charcoal. Sea salt and organic sugar in nourishing oils, for skin that feels polished and smooth.
- Rosewood and Litsea Cubeba Imperial Jade Body Oil. A silky blend of plant oils that sinks in fast and leaves a soft glow.
- Rejuvenating Body Cream with Kalahari Oil in Rosewood and Litsea Cubeba. A rich cream that helps skin hold moisture.
- Gold Under Eye Masks. A cool, refreshing pause for tired-looking eyes.
Step 1: Scrub in the shower
Before you step in, stir the Body Caviar. The oils rise to the top in the jar, and stirring brings them back into the crystals as a thick, even paste. Let the shower warm your skin for a minute, then take a palmful and massage it over wet skin from the neck down. Work in slow circles and give elbows, knees, heels and the backs of the arms a little longer.
Sea salt and organic sugar buff away dull surface skin. The oils in the blend, including coconut, passion fruit and Kalahari melon seed, keep skin from feeling stripped while you scrub. Rinse with warm water until the black has gone, then pat dry gently. Leave skin a little damp.
The Body Caviar is for the body only. Keep it away from your face.
Step 2: Oil on damp skin
This is the step to do quickly, while the bathroom is still steamy and skin is still damp. Warm a few drops of the Rosewood and Litsea Cubeba Imperial Jade Body Oil between your palms and smooth it over your body in long strokes. Add a few more drops as you go rather than pouring a lot at once.
Damp skin spreads the oil further and helps seal in the water already on it. The oil glides on and leaves a satiny finish with no tacky film. The scent opens as it warms: smooth rosewood, a lemony lift from litsea cubeba, and fresh bergamot.
Step 3: Cream where skin is driest
Finish with the Rejuvenating Body Cream. It lifts out as a rich, velvety cream and melts in with a slow, even glide. Use it over the oil wherever skin needs the most: shins, elbows, knees, heels, the tops of the feet and the backs of the hands. Because it shares the oil's Rosewood and Litsea Cubeba scent, the two layer rather than compete.
On very dry skin, cover everything. On normal skin, the oil may be enough on the arms and torso, with cream only on the rough spots.
Step 4: The eye masks, when you want them
The Gold Under Eye Masks are not part of the body routine, and you do not need them every time. Use a pair on clean, dry skin on a morning when your eyes look tired, or put them on before you start the scrub so they have their time while you work through the other steps. Follow the directions on the pack for how long to leave them on.
How often to use each step
The three steps do not all run on the same schedule.
- Scrub: once or twice a week. Exfoliating every day is more than most skin needs.
- Oil: after any bath or shower, as often as you like.
- Cream: daily, or whenever elbows, shins and heels feel rough.
- Masks: occasionally, on the mornings or evenings that call for them.
In practice, that means the full three-step routine once or twice a week, often on a slower evening, and oil and cream on their own on the days in between.
Getting the routine right
Do not dry off completely before the oil. A quick pat with the towel is enough. Fully dry skin takes more oil and spreads it less evenly.
Do not scrub skin that is already sensitive. Skip the Body Caviar on freshly shaved legs, skin that has had too much sun, or anywhere that feels irritated, and go straight to oil and cream.
Give the oil a minute before the cream. Let it sink in while you brush your teeth or tidy the bathroom, then smooth on the cream. The layers settle more evenly that way.
Keep the jar dry. Scoop the scrub with dry hands where you can, and close the lid between uses, so water does not sit on top of the crystals.
Questions about using The Indulgent Body Box
What order do the products go in?
Scrub in the shower, then the body oil on damp skin, then the body cream on top. The eye masks are a separate step for the face, used whenever you want them.
Can I use the body oil and cream without the scrub?
Yes. The oil and cream are everyday products, and they carry the days between scrubs. Use the scrub once or twice a week.
Do the products clash, with two different scents?
No. The scrub is Hawaiian Black Lava, musky and woodsy, and it rinses away in the shower. The oil and cream share Rosewood and Litsea Cubeba, which is the scent that stays on your skin.
Can I use the Body Caviar on my face?
No. It is made for the body only, from the neck down.
