The Dream Routine is three products used in one order: wash with Rose Face Wash Cream, smooth a thin layer of Detox Gel over face and neck, then press four to six drops of The Royal Kalahari Face Serum into your skin while the gel is still fresh. The whole routine takes a few minutes and works morning or night. In the daytime, finish with sunscreen. This guide walks through each step: how much to use, how to apply it, and how long to wait.
What is in the set
The Dream Routine is our face routine in three full products:
- Rose Face Wash Cream, a creamy wash with rosehip seed, argan, coconut and Kalahari melon seed oils that cleanses without leaving skin tight.
- Detox Gel, 4 oz, a light, clear aloe gel that leaves skin fresh and ready for serum.
- The Royal Kalahari Face Serum, 1 fl oz, a light face oil for lasting hydration and a brighter, more even-looking tone. It won People's Star Beauty Award for Best Facial Care Product.
The three steps
Step 1: Wash
Run a little warm water over your face. Take a small amount of Rose Face Wash Cream and press it into damp skin. It melts and spreads like a lotion rather than foaming up like a soap. Work it gently over your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin for about thirty seconds, then rinse with lukewarm water. Pat your face with a clean towel. Skin should feel clean and soft, never squeaky or tight.
Step 2: Gel
Straight after washing, smooth a thin layer of Detox Gel over your face and neck. The first touch is cool. It melts into skin in seconds and leaves it feeling fresh, soft and lightly hydrated, never tacky. A thin layer is all you need. The gel sits between toning and moisturizing, so the serum that follows glides on more easily.
Step 3: Serum
While the gel still feels fresh, warm four to six drops of The Royal Kalahari Face Serum between your fingertips and press them into your face and neck. Press rather than rub, starting at the center of the face and working outward. It sinks in without a greasy feel, leaving skin softer at once.
How much of each
- Wash: a small amount, enough to cover your face in a thin layer once it melts. The cream spreads further than you expect.
- Gel: a thin layer over face and neck. The 4 oz jar is made to last, so you can use it generously without counting.
- Serum: four to six drops. Start with four. If your skin still feels like it wants more after a minute, use five or six next time.
Timing: morning, night or both
The routine works at either end of the day, and the steps do not change. Most people use it twice a day, which is how the gel and serum are meant to be used.
In the morning, wash, gel and serum, then sunscreen. The serum leaves no greasy film, so makeup goes on smoothly afterwards.
At night, the same three steps, with nothing after them unless your skin wants a richer cream. A clean face and a fresh layer of moisture is a good way to go to bed.
If you only have time for it once a day, choose the evening. You can wash your face more quickly in the morning and still press in the serum.
A few details that make a difference
- Do not let the gel dry completely. The routine's own instructions say to press in the serum while the gel is still fresh. A few seconds between the two steps is plenty.
- Lukewarm water, not hot. Hot water is what leaves skin feeling tight after washing, even with a gentle cleanser.
- Carry each step down the neck. Both the gel and the serum are meant for face and neck.
- Give it a few weeks. Royal Kalahari leaves skin softer at once, and with daily use skin looks smoother, brighter and more even.
Questions about using the Dream Routine
How many drops of serum should I use?
Four to six drops of The Royal Kalahari Face Serum, warmed between your fingertips and pressed into face and neck. Start with four.
Can I use the Dream Routine twice a day?
Yes. All three products are made for morning and night use. In the morning, finish with sunscreen.
Do I need a moisturizer after the serum?
For many people, no. The gel gives water-binding hydration and the serum helps skin hold moisture. If your skin wants more at night, add a cream as the very last step.
How long does the routine take?
A few minutes. Most of that is the thirty seconds or so you spend washing.
