Rose Face Wash Cream for Your Skin Type and the Season

Rose Face Wash Cream for Your Skin Type and the Season

You get the most from Rose Face Wash Cream by fitting it to your skin and to the season: a slower massage and a richer next step when skin is dry, a lighter follow-up when it is not, and a first cleanse with oil on heavy makeup days. The wash itself stays the same, a dime-size amount massaged into damp skin and rinsed with warm water, morning and night. What changes is everything around it.

Who it was made for

We made Rose Face Wash Cream for dry, normal and sensitive skin that wants a proper cleanse and still feels like itself afterward. It cleans like soap, because the base comes from our own soapmaking, but glycerin and sorbitol soften it, rosehip seed oil and shea butter give it cushion, and finely milled oat and calendula keep the feel gentle. Kalahari melon seed oil, the light oil at the heart of so many of our formulas, helps skin look smoother and more refined.

If your skin is dry

Dry skin gets the most from this wash, and also loses the most if the next step is slow. Use lukewarm water, never hot. Give the cream the full minute of massage, so the rosehip seed oil and shea butter have time to make their difference to the feel, and rinse thoroughly. Then move straight on while your face is still damp.

Follow with Rose Petal Mist Face Toner and The Royal Kalahari Face Serum, and at night add a face oil as the last step. Marula Face Oil is rich and softening, and suits dry, dehydrated and mature skin especially well.

If your skin is normal or sensitive

Normal skin can keep things simple: the wash, a serum, sunscreen in the morning. Thirty seconds of massage is plenty.

For sensitive skin, keep your hands light and your water warm rather than hot, and pat dry rather than rubbing. Add one new product after the wash at a time, so you know how your skin feels with each. A lighter layer such as Rose Petal Mist or Detox Gel is an easy place to start.

Through the seasons

Winter. Heating dries the air, and skin feels it. Keep the water cooler than you are tempted to, and do not leave your face bare between the wash and the next step. A face oil over your serum at night helps keep moisture in.

Summer. You will likely be wearing more sunscreen and sweating more, so the evening wash matters more. Take your time over it. In the morning, a shorter wash and a lighter routine are often enough: wash, mist, serum, sunscreen.

Air-conditioned months. Air conditioning dries skin much as heating does. A few spritzes of Rose Petal Mist during the day help skin feel fresh between washes.

On days with makeup or heavy sunscreen

The cream handles everyday sunscreen and light makeup on its own. For long-wear foundation, waterproof mascara or a thick layer of high-protection sunscreen, double cleanse: massage a face oil over dry skin to loosen everything, wipe or rinse it away, then follow with Rose Face Wash Cream to take off the oil and whatever it lifted. Skin is left clean, and not stripped.

Questions about fitting it to your skin

Can I use Rose Face Wash Cream if my skin is oily?

It was made with dry, normal and sensitive skin in mind, but it rinses clean and leaves no film. If your skin runs oily, follow it with something light, such as Detox Gel, rather than a rich oil.

Does it take off makeup?

Light makeup and everyday sunscreen, yes. For long-wear or waterproof makeup, use a face oil first and the cream as your second cleanse.

Can I use it with a vitamin C serum?

Yes. Wash first, then apply the vitamin C serum to clean skin, then moisturizer and sunscreen in the morning.

Is there a set that pairs it with a face oil?

The Rose Ritual Bundle includes a 1.2 fl oz Rose Face Wash Cream alongside Rosehip Face Oil, which makes a neat pair for a trip.
