The creation
A black lava body scrub of sea salt, sugar and Kalahari oil.
Open the jar and it looks like volcanic sand: black as lava, glistening with oil, flecked with coffee bean. Stir it first, as the label asks, and the oils and crystals come together as a thick, luxurious paste.
In the shower it does the work for you. Sea salt and organic sugar buff away dull surface skin, so skin looks radiant, while safflower, coconut, macadamia, kukui, passion fruit and Kalahari melon seed oils leave it feeling soft and moisturized. Charcoal powder gives the Hawaiian Black Lava colour, and coffee bean adds an aromatic, invigorating scrub.
The scent is Hawaiian Black Lava, musky and woodsy. Massage it over wet skin from the neck down, rinse with warm water and pat dry. Your skin will feel polished, pampered and cushioned, never tight.

How to use
- Stir first Mix the oils, salt and sugar back together until they form a loose paste.
- Massage on After bathing, massage over your wet body, neck down.
- Scrub gently Work gently over arms, legs, elbows, knees and heels, then rinse with warm water.
- Pat dry Pat dry and rinse the tub afterward, as the oils can leave surfaces slippery.
- Start with once or twice a week and see how your skin feels.
- Follow with body cream or oil while skin is still slightly damp.
Good to know Body only, never the face. It contains fragrance and listed fragrance allergens, so patch test first and keep it off broken skin.

The story behind
Made by hand, in small batches, by a mother and son in Brooklyn
Marianella spent her childhood in her grandmother's kitchen in Venezuela, making soap and beauty products by hand, and her travels brought home memories of black volcanic beaches. Body Caviar is that memory in a jar: sea salt and organic sugar in safflower, coconut, macadamia, kukui, passion fruit and Kalahari melon oils, with charcoal powder and coffee bean.
We make it by hand in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, in batches of 50 to 100 jars, and her son David designed the look. The scrub looks like black lava and leaves skin soft. No harsh chemicals, no animal testing, and as little waste as we can manage.
The perfect partner
Bathe with the wash, then scrub on wet skin and rinse the two away together.
After the scrub, the rich cream settles into freshly polished, slightly damp skin.
Scrub, pat to damp, then smooth rosewood oil over for a soft, satiny glow.
Imperial Jade oil follows the scrub best: a few drops on damp skin for glow.
