To use Replenishing Body Wash with Kalahari Oil, wet your skin with warm water, pour about a coin-sized amount into wet hands or onto a cloth or sponge, and work it into a soft lather over damp skin. Wash from the shoulders down, rinse well, then pat dry and leave your skin slightly damp for body cream. Because it is real soap rather than a thick gel, a little goes a long way. The rest of this guide covers each step, how often to use it, and where it fits in your shower.
What you are working with
Replenishing Body Wash is a true castile-style liquid soap. It cleans with real soap rather than a thickened detergent. Coconut oil gives the lather its lift, and jojoba, a light liquid wax from the Sonoran Desert, leaves skin feeling soft. Aloe vera adds a cool, fresh touch, and a touch of Kalahari melon seed oil, the oil our brand is built on, finishes it.
Knowing this changes how you use it. It pours more fluidly than a gel and lathers differently, so the habits you have from a supermarket body wash do not quite apply.
Step 1: Start with warm water, not hot
Wet your skin thoroughly with warm water and give it half a minute. Very hot water leaves skin feeling drier after the shower, which undoes some of what a gentle wash is for. Warm water softens the skin and lets the scent open in the steam.
Step 2: Pour a small amount
About a coin-sized pour is enough for most of the body. Because it is real soap, it looks thinner in your palm than you expect, and the natural reaction is to pour more. Resist it. If you need more lather, add a splash of water rather than more soap.
Step 3: Lather in your hands or on a cloth
Rub it between wet palms for a few seconds, or work it into a washcloth or sponge. A cloth or sponge makes the lather go further and stretches the bottle; your hands are gentler and let you feel how much you are using. Both work well.
Step 4: Wash from the shoulders down
Work the lather over your shoulders, arms, torso and legs with slow, even strokes. There is no need to scrub hard. Spend a moment longer on the places that collect the most: underarms, feet, and the backs of the knees. On elbows, knees and shins, which tend to feel rough, let the lather sit for a few seconds before you rinse.
Step 5: Rinse well and pat dry
Rinse thoroughly with warm water until your skin no longer feels slippery. Then pat yourself dry with a towel rather than rubbing, and stop while your skin is still slightly damp. That leftover water is useful for the next step.
Step 6: Moisturize within a minute or two
The wash leaves skin comfortable rather than tight, but a body cream still makes the difference between clean skin and soft skin. Smooth on the Rejuvenating Body Cream with Kalahari Oil while your skin is still damp. It comes in the same scents as the wash, so the two layer into one.
How often to use it, and when
Use it every day, once a day for most people. It is gentle enough for daily use and does not leave skin feeling stripped. In hot weather, or after a swim in salt water or a session at the gym, a second shower with it is fine.
Morning or evening is up to you. In the morning the scent lifts in the steam and gives the day a clean start. In the evening it leaves a soft, clean trace of scent that carries into bed. Either way, the cream follows straight after.
Where it fits in your shower
If you wash your hair in the same shower, do your hair first and your body last, so conditioner does not run over freshly washed skin. Keep the body wash for the body: for your face, use a cleanser made for it, such as our Rose Face Wash Cream, which is softened with glycerin and rosehip seed oil for the thinner skin of the face.
The bottle is bathroom-safe and easy to hold with wet hands, so it can live on the shower ledge rather than in a cabinet.
Questions about using the body wash
How much body wash should I use?
About a coin-sized amount for the body. It is real soap, so it lathers further than its thin texture suggests; add water rather than more soap if you need more lather.
Is it gentle enough for every day?
Yes. It is a real soap made with coconut and jojoba oils plus aloe vera, and it leaves skin feeling comfortable rather than tight, so daily use is fine.
Should I use a washcloth or my hands?
Either. A cloth or sponge makes a little go further; your hands are gentler and let you control the amount.
Can I use it on my face?
We suggest keeping it for the body and using a face cleanser such as Rose Face Wash Cream, which is made for the face.
