How Marianella Was Built

The soap going soft in its dish, the lotion by the bed, the oil warmed between two palms before sleep: every one of them was made in Brooklyn. The Marianella brand was founded in 2007 by a Venezuelan family who carried their Caracas memories to New York and rebuilt them here, and in 2026 everything we make still comes from the borough where we started. This is the Marianella founder story, and the reason the making never moved.

Where the Marianella brand begins: Caracas

Before there was a brand, there was a childhood in Caracas, and inside it a simple joy: making something beautiful out of what nature gives. [An early memory from Caracas, in the founder's own words.] Those early memories became the foundation of everything we make. They were not a mood board, and they were never a theme. They were a habit of the hands, learned young and kept.

Rebuilding that world from scratch in Brooklyn

When life brought the family to the United States, none of that world arrived ready-made. They rebuilt it from scratch, in Brooklyn. [Neighborhood, and the year the family arrived.] The rules were set in those first years, and they have not changed: make a little at a time, choose only what is worth putting on skin, and take no shortcuts.

Why we never left Brooklyn

A family that has already started over once does not go looking to do it again. Brooklyn is where the Caracas memories found new ground. It is where "no shortcuts" stopped being a sentence and became the way the work is done. A rule like that holds only when the people who wrote it can stand beside it.

So the making stayed. The brand grew from its first pieces to 82, and from a Brooklyn workroom to the shelves of Bloomingdale's BEAUTYSPACE, and still the making never left the borough. Marianella remains independent, and remains in Brooklyn, nineteen years on. [The founder, in their own words, on why the making stayed in Brooklyn.]

Today we are the only Venezuelan-founded, independent luxury skincare and home fragrance brand in the United States. That sentence has two homes in it, and we have never wanted to give up either one.

What a Brooklyn serums, soaps, lotions and body oils brand makes now

At heart Marianella is a serums, soaps, lotions and body oils brand, with home fragrance alongside: 82 pieces across Face, Body, Hand, Home and Fragrance, from $40 to $160. Our best seller is the Hydrating Hand Wash, made with Kalahari melon seed oil so hands come off the towel comfortable instead of worn. It is a small, daily proof of the same old rule. Something you reach for twelve times a day should be made as carefully as something you save.

Where the Marianella story has been told

The work made in Brooklyn has been noticed well beyond it. Marianella has appeared in Vogue, the New York Times, Harper's Bazaar, Allure, Forbes, WWD, Bloomberg, InStyle and Refinery29. We have been named to Oprah's Favorite Things, received People Magazine's Star Beauty Award, and been championed by JVN of Queer Eye.

Everything we make in Brooklyn, across Face, Body, Hand, Home and Fragrance, is waiting in our shop.
